Apple releases iOS 11.2.6 for 41 devices

Apple has released the successor of iOS 11.2.5, iOS 11.2.6, to the public. You can download it on your iPhone and iPad using the links below.

What’s new in iOS 11.2.6?

Apparently, there’s nothing new in this update. Judging by the build number, this is a minor update with a few bug fixes.

It fixes the critical Telugu character bug that rendered a lot of devices useless in the last couple of days.

This bug affects iMessage, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter, Telegram and pretty much any other app you can imagine.

Fortunately, this annoying bug was already fixed in iOS 11.3, Apple specifically released this update to fix this glitch because iOS 11.3 is still in the beta development phase.

Apart from the “Indian character” bug, this update also has fixes for compatibility of third-party apps with various accessories.

Since it’s a public release, there’s no need for you to install any OTA profile. This update will appear in the “Software Update” section of your device.

If you really want to perform a clean restore, you can grab the IPSw firmware file using the download links below.

Should you upgrade?

This is an important update and I highly recommend upgrading if you haven’t already done so. A single Unicode character can actually make you lose all your data.

I also recommend following this tutorial to take the necessary precautionary measures if you are on lower versions.
