Download iOS 11.2.5 Beta 5 without developer account

After releasing beta 4 yesterday, Apple has just seeded iOS 11.2.5 beta 5 to the developers. Here’s how you can download the beta 5 update without a paid developer account.

What’s new in iOS 11.2.5 beta 5?

iOS 11.2.5 developer beta 5 comes with build number 15D5057a and weighs around 145MB on pretty much all devices.

As far as I know, this new version comes with no known performance or bug fixes. However, the timing of its release means it does fix a critical bug present in the iOS 11.2.5 beta 4 update.

I believe Apple didn’t implement security patches for Spectre exploits of iOS 11.2.2 properly in iOS 11.2.5 beta 4.

Therefore, they did it in this update and pushed it immediately after beta 4 due to the gravity of the situation.

You can download the firmware IPSW file below for updating with iTunes. If you don’t want to go the iTunes route, I suggest directly installing the OTA profile for a quick update.

Note – The links will go live once all the files are uploaded and checked.

Is beta 5 worth upgrading?

No, beta 5 is certainly not worth updating if you are sitting on iOS 11.2.2 or below versions.

Although beta 4 and beta 5 brings a lot of improvements over beta 3, they still are a far cry from a proper bug-free update.

The sizes of the versions clearly indicate they aren’t the Golden Master builds. Once the GM build comes, you can freely upgrade to it.
