Find Free WiFi Hotspots with Facebook’s Find WiFi Feature

WiFi is like oxygen to some of us and rightfully so. Here’s a new way to get access to free WiFi with Facebook.

How Facebook’s Find WiFi Feature Works

Have you ever been to a cafe just to use their free WiFi? If yes, then this new feature is going to make cafe hopping worthwhile.

Not long ago, the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new feature – a map of free WiFi hotspots. This feature is called “Find Wi-Fi” and comes integrated with the latest version of the Facebook app.

It allows you to quickly search for free WiFi networks on the map. Facebook gathers this data from Facebook pages of companies and businesses.

This is a welcome addition function and comes in handy in a lot of ways than you could ever imagine.

It’s immensely useful when you are traveling to a foreign country or simply running out of mobile data. You can also use it just because you have nothing else to do except sipping coffee at a cafe.

Here’s a quick tutorial on setting this feature up. This tutorial will work for both iOS and Android smartphones.

How to Find Free WiFi using Facebook’s Find WiFi Feature

Step 1 Launch the Facebook app on your iPhone. Ensure you are running the latest version.

Step 2 Go to More tab.

Step 3 Select the Find Wi-Fi option.

Step 4 Now you will need to enable this feature. Simply, tap the Enable Find Wi-Fi button.

Step 5 Enabling this feature requires access to Location services. To enable them, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.

Step 6 Now go back to the Facebook App and navigate to Settings and turn on Find Wi-Fi and Find Wi-Fi notifications.

Step 7 Open Location Settings and go to Location > Location Services > Facebook and set it to Always.

That’s all there’s to it. You can now start browsing and check the free networks in your vicinity easily. You can also tap each network to get more information about it.

This feature is still in infancy and is being rolled out gradually. It will soon be available in every part of the world. If you don’t have access to it yet, just wait it out for a few more days.
