DropbearAlert – Notifications for incoming SSH Connections

Another day, another tweak. This new tweak aims to improve your SSH experience. Here’s how it works.

How DropbearAlert works

As you already know, Dropbear is an inbuilt SSH client that comes with Yalu jailbreak. It allows users to SSH easily via WiFi and USB but also leaves your device open to attacks.

This is where this new tweak comes in.

DropbearAlert Cydia tweak alerts you each time your someone connects to your device via SSH. It is developed by tweak developer Julioverne.

It works exactly like those Hotspot creation tools that you use on Windows and Mac. Here’s how it looks like in action.

While I can’t find use cases for this tweak, it does have a few real life applications.

For example, someone with ulterior motives attempts to connect to your device via SSH, you will instantly receive a notification. You can then boot out that hacker easily.

The possibility of this happening is very low as the hacker must be in close proximity to your device.

Nevertheless, it good to stay secure and try to close every possible loophole that jailbreaking opens up on your iOS device.

This is a nifty little tweak for all you SSH enthusiasts. Recommended.

If you are a casual jailbreaker, you probably wouldn’t be able to derive much benefit from it.

DropbearAlert is available for download on BigBoss Cydia repo for free. It is compatible with iOS 10.
