WhatsApp update allows users to Delete Sent Messages

WhatsApp has just announced support for deleting delivered messages. Here’s how you can take advantage of this new feature.

Deleting sent messages in WhatsApp

WhatsApp and Telegram are the two big names in the instant messaging arena. Telegram already allows you to delete sent messages so why should WhatsApp stay behind.

WhatsApp has just introduced the ability to delete messages that a contact has already received. The demand for this feature is huge within the jailbreak community and outside of it.

However, just like every stock feature, this feature, too, has a few limitations –

  • Firstly, you can only delete messages that were delivered within a timeframe of 7 minutes.
  • Secondly, both the sender and recipient must have a compatible version of the messaging app.

For example, you won’t be able to use this feature in case you are running the latest version whereas your contact is still using the older version. Also, if you miss the 7-minute window, you can forget about deleting anything.

Here’s how you can use it on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

How can I use this feature?

To get this feature on your iPhone, you must install the latest update. They will be rolling out this new version slowly due to a glitch. Hence, it will take around a day before everyone can download it.

You can follow this in-depth tutorial to use this feature –

As is evident, stock features can never match the power of jailbreak tweaks. If your device is jailbroken, there’s no point in using this since you can already use more powerful tweaks such as Watusi.
