Snapchat removes in-app code that lets users go back to the old layout

It seems as if jailbreakers are fighting a never-ending battle with Snapchat. Today, the social networking giant has axed yet another essential user-favorite feature from its iPhone app. Here’s all you need to know about it.

Users can no longer revert to the old Snapchat UI

Snapchat introduced a totally revamped user interface a few days back. Despite numerous improvements, the new layout wasn’t very well received by the users.

Although the app received an update, the code of the older interface was still present in the app.

All users needed to do was change the permissions for a few files using a file manager like Filza.

Thanks to this glitch in Snapchat’s code, a lot of users were easily able to revert to the older layout.

However, the party hasn’t lasted long as Snapchat has completely removed all traces of the UI from their code.

You can no longer move back to the old version, even with tweaks such as SnapDecent and MakeSnapchatGreatAgain.

This change appertains to version 10.28.0.25, which is the latest update in the App Store.

How can you go back to the older layout?

No matter what tricks Snapchat tries, jailbreak developers are always a step ahead of the curve. You can still move back to the older interface if you have a jailbreak.

Here’s how you can do that on iOS 10-10.3.3 and iOS 11-11.1.2 firmware.

Downgrade Snapchat app

  • Install AppAdmin tweak from Cydia.
  • Go to the official App Store.
  • Downgrade Snapchat to version 10.27.1.1. This version still comes with the old layout.

Unfortunately, AppAdmin isn’t compatible with iOS 11 yet. If you are running Electra jailbreak, you might have to wait a bit longer for a proper update.

Manually install the old version

Manually installing the latest update that has the older interface is your best bet if you are on iOS 11. This method will work for users who are running a jailbreak or who are using the stock iOS operating system.

You can follow the second method given here.

For those of you who haven’t updated yet, stay where you are and enjoy the better layout.
