Apple is working on iPad Mini 5 and AirPods 2

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino giant is working on a new iPad mini. Kuo also expounds on other products that he expects this year, including AirPods 2 and of course AirPower.

iPad Mini 5 coming soon

For many people, Kuo’s remarks will have come as a total surprise. The unveiling of a new iPad mini is special because the last model dates back to 2015.

Since then, Apple has sold iPad mini 4 but hasn’t refreshed the mini lineup.

Kuo says based on information from the supply chain that the upcoming iPad mini 5 has an improved processor. In order to reduce costs, Apple will likely opt for a 7.9-inch LCD screen.

However, the analyst is not yet sure if we will see the iPad mini in the store this year. There is also a chance that the release will be extended to the beginning of 2019.

Kuo also expects Apple to announce a new iPad with a borderless screen, without a physical home button, and with Face ID.

That should no longer come as a surprise because such rumors have regularly sprouted in recent months. The analyst reveals Apple will switch to USB-C with the iPad Pro and that a new Apple Pencil will appear.

You can expect the announcement of the new iPad Pro next Tuesday, during the October event in New York. The iPad event will kick off at 10:00 a.m. EDT on October 30.

AirPods 2 and AirPower are also in the works

Furthermore, Kuo expects new AirPods to arrive this quarter, but according to the analyst, that could also be pushed through to the first quarter of next year.

Apple may announce them at the event, but the release date will follow later.

The next-generation AirPods will have a wireless charging case and a new wireless chip that will make them support the “Hey Siri” command.

Also, Apple could release the AirPower during the same period. Apple does not seem to have forgotten the charging mat, because the accessory is still mentioned in the booklets of the iPhone XR.

New MacBook to be announced alongside the iPad

The new iPad and Mac will hog the most limelight during the October event. Kuo expects new processors and other internal improvements.

A cheap MacBook Air, renewed iMacs, and a Mac mini are also in the offing according to some rumors.
