Alibaba hacker Min Zheng is back with another iOS 11.3 hack. He just posted a teaser video of Cydia and mobile terminal running on iOS 11.3.1 firmware.
Min Zheng gets Cydia running on iOS 11.3.1
As you already know, Chinese hacker Min Zheng has been working diligently on an iOS 11 exploit.
After repeated attempts, the hacker was able to circumvent all security mechanisms and got Cydia running on iOS 11.3.
Apparently, another member of the Alibaba security team was also involved in this project.
Zheng posted teased his iOS 11.3 jailbreak on YouTube.
He demonstrated several bash commands inside Mobile Terminal app, which can only be installed jailbroken devices.
Unsurprisingly, the hackers didn’t reveal any details pertaining to the vulnerabilities and exploits utilized in this jailbreak.
When it comes to iOS hacking, Min Zheng is as legitimate as they come. However, some jailbreakers doubt if he will ever release something for the community.
iOS 11.3 patched no less than 45 security vulnerabilities and exploits. Therefore, exploiting this version and getting unfettered root access still remains a challenge and no one would like to blow an exploit publicly.
Despite what people are saying, Zheng might still make his jailbreak public somewhere down the line.
Even if he doesn’t release it publicly, he will make the exploit public provided his presentation gets accepted in a security conference.
I highly suggest sticking with the lowest firmware possible (iOS 11.2-11.2.6 preferably) if you want a jailbreak.
