unc0ver team teases iOS 13.5 jailbreak for all devices

unc0ver Team is currently testing a new jailbreak tool for all devices running iOS 13.5 firmware. Hit the jump to know more about this jailbreak and how you can prepare your device beforehand.

unc0ver v5.0.0 will add support for iOS 13.5

The fifth iteration of unc0ver jailbreak will add support for all devices capable of running iOS 13.5.

The announcement pertaining to the release came from the official Twitter handle of the unc0ver Team just a few hours ago.

Owing to the nature of the tweet, some users insinuated that pwn20wnd’s Twitter accounts were hacked. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. pwn20wnd and his team have clarified that this project is totally legitimate and sponsored by Phone Rebel.

This jailbreak was achieved with the help of a zero-day kernel vulnerability discovered by ace hacker pwn20wnd.

For the uninitiated, a zero-day vulnerability is a vulnerability that has never been disclosed publicly, meaning it has been public for “zero” days. Such vulnerabilities can easily fetch bounties over a million dollars in the black market if the hacker is able to find the right buyer.

unc0ver v5.0.0 is fully compatible with the latest device lineup from Apple – iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Additionally, users with older models such as iPhone XS (Max) or XR will also be able to use this tool to jailbreak their devices.

iPhone X and older devices are also compatible. However, these devices can already be jailbroken with checkra1n jailbreak without worrying about firmware upgrades.

Since case brand PhoneRebel sponsors this tool, here’s how its user interface will look like.

How to prepare your device for iOS 13.5 jailbreak

1. Upgrade your device

If you wish to jailbreak your device, upgrade it to iOS 13.5 firmware as soon as possible.

Although Apple has just released iOS 13.5 and its signing window should remain open for a while, upgrading now will make sure your device is ready when the jailbreak drops.

2. Backup your data

Connect your device to iTunes and perform a full backup of your data. Although modern jailbreak tools rarely cause issues, it’s always good when you can sleep well at night knowing your data is safe and secure.

Just to reiterate, backups are not necessary but always recommended.
