XigTeam jailbreaks iOS 10.3-10.3.3
A new Chinese Dev Team called XigTeam has just teased a new jailbreak on Twitter. This new jailbreak is completely “persistent” meaning it’s fully untethered and you won’t need to run the jailbreak app after each reboot.
Here’s how the jailbreak tool in question looks like.
This tool is based on a powerful 0-day kernel exploit. Apart from that, it exploits a major design flaw present in the AMCC (Apple Memory Controller).
I wasn’t able to ascertain whether or not they actually possess a KPP bypass but it seems their jailbreak is fully functional without it.
But here’s the catch – this jailbreak will only support iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus running the following firmware versions –
Although it utilizes a vulnerability present in 64-bit iOS devices, no other device will be supported. And who knows, some hacker might add support for other devices in the future.
Undoubtedly, this is a great development considering how iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus have continuously been left in the lurch by jailbreak developers.
Is XigTeam fake?
They are followed by notable iOS hackers and jailbreak developers such as –
- Luca Todesco aka qwertyoruiopz
- Will Strafach aka chronic
- Liang Chen of KeenLab Dev Team
By the looks of it, they might have attended a recent information security conference in China. Hence, XigTeam is not fake, that’s for sure.
But considering the run of bad luck the jailbreak scene is having, I can understand why people are calling them fake. Any Dev Team can develop all the jailbreak tools in the world but what really matters if they release it to the public.
What do you think – will we get an iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak soon? Let us know in the comments section below.
