Fortnite 5.40 brings Getaway mode and Grapple gun to Apple devices

Epic introduces a completely new mode – Getaway – for Fortnite. This mode is only available temporarily, and part of the High Stakes event that is currently running.

The “Getaway mode” is Epic’s attempt to introduce heisting to the super-popular battle royale game.

Four safes have been dropped at random locations around the island. In the safe is a precious jewel, which you have to get with a team of four.

One player tries to crack the safe, while the rest defend him from enemies for as long as possible. If you have the jewel, it is important to find a van as quickly as possible and flee.

Additionally, several other challenges related to the event have been added, as well as some “Wild Card” skins that you can unlock by playing.

Another new addition to the game is the Grappler gun, a weapon with which you can move around the island much faster. You can aim the Grappler at an object during a game to “fly”.

Furthermore, the control of Fortnite on iOS has improved slightly.
