What’s v1ntex?
v1ntex is an iOS 12 exploit based on the voucher_swap exploit by Brandon Azad. It is developed by the renowned German security researcher Tihmstar.
According to the developer, this exploit is very “barebones” at the moment and doesn’t add any new features to the existing exploits.
Just like its predecessor, v1ntex is compatible with iOS 12.1.2 firmware and also supports the versions below it.
The developer, however, has tested it only on an iPhone 5s running iOS 11.2.6 firmware.
might not work for 16k devices out of the box, but 16k support is planned https://t.co/a7aWu7RDtL

Currently, the v1ntex exploit lacks “out-of-the-box support” for 16k devices. However, jailbreak developers can add it manually to their tools.
The hacker has added offsets only for Darwin Kernel Version 17.4.0. So, developers and users will have to add their own custom offsets for their device and firmware combination.
16k support is already added in a private fork, which will hopefully go public very soon.
Jailbreak compatibility
Electra jailbreak
Version 1.2.3 of Electra1141 iOS 11.4.1 jailbreak replaces treadm1ll with v1ntex for A7 and A8 models running on iOS 11.2-11.4.1; the reason being that v1ntex exploit is relatively more reliable and offers a better success rate.
Modern devices such as the iPhone X still rely on voucher_swap by Brandon Azad.
unc0ver jailbreak
Pwn20wnd is yet to add v1ntex to unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 11.0-11.4.1. The Electra alternative still relies on treadm1ll and voucher_swap exploit.
However, that could change in the future due to the poor success rate of treadm1ll on A7 and A8 devices.
For those of you who have an iPhone 5s or iPhone 6 or 6 plus, be sure to switch to Electra1141 as soon as possible. The same applies to users that own other A8 devices – iPod touch 6 and iPad mini 4.
