Tihmstar develops a Remote Jailbreak tool for iPhone 4s

Eminent hacker Tihmstar is back at it again! He has just developed a new remote jailbreak tool for iPhone 4s and other 32-bit devices.

Remote jailbreak for 32-bit legacy models

Tihmstar just broke the news about jailbreaking his iPhone 4s. He achieved this using a remote jailbreak, which a user can run through Safari.

It is based on the infamous Pegasus vulnerability and works exactly like Luca Todesco’s JailbreakMe for iOS 9. However, it will stay private and the developer doesn’t intend to do a public release of this tool.

Here’s a video demonstration of this tool.

This is probably due to the security hazards involved in a remote tool. When you install a jailbreak through Safari, you are literally hacking into your iPhone deliberately.

This can also allow a hacker to inject malicious code into your device through a webpage.

As you know, Tihmstar is going to deliver a 2-day training session at Black Hat 2018. This training will pertain to 32-bit Apple devices only.

Therefore, this remote jailbreak tool might serve as a tool for training the attendees.

How is it useful?

As is evident, this doesn’t mean anything for the average user.

This jailbreak doesn’t serve any purpose since iOS 9.1-9.3.4 already has an untethered jailbreak. Moreover, it is incompatible with newer iPhone models.

If a release does happen in the future, users will be able to jailbreak 32-bit models in a fraction of the time.  That’s all I can think of right now.

This also doesn’t imply that jailbreak scene is still alive and kicking. Tihmstar’s tools are limited only to 32-bit devices.

This means only users with legacy iPhones or out of warranty devices will be able to benefit from it.

Do you still own a 32-bit device? If yes, leave your comments in the comments section below.
