8 reasons to buy iPhone XR instead of iPhone XS (Max)

The iPhone XR is two hundred and fifty dollars cheaper than the iPhone XS, but still has a lot of similarities with the iPhone XS. Here are seven reasons why purchasing an iPhone XR is your best bet right now.

Apple enthusiasts are always bent on purchasing the flagship smartphones. But, the cheaper alternative actually looks more interesting than the high-end models this time around.

1. iPhone XR is $250 cheaper

Thanks to its price, iPhone XR is an interesting newcomer. You get almost all major innovations of this year and also end up saving $250 as compared to iPhone XS.

You can then use the dollars you saved up to buy a brand new Apple Watch Series 4.

2. Larger screen

The iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch screen, which is bigger than the 5.8-inch screen of the iPhone XS. Perfect if you want a bigger screen that’s not too big as is the case with iPhone XS.

The XS and XS Max do have an OLED display with a higher pixel density. However, that also immediately explains the price difference.

3. Plenty of storage space

The iPhone XR is available in three storage options – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB – which should be enough for most users.

Some users might prefer 64GB, but if you want a bit more storage space, then 128GB is ideal; especially if you plan to spend a bit longer with your new iPhone or if you need to watch movies offline or store a large number of photos.

The upgrade from 64GB to 128GB costs just 50 dollars and that’s a bargain. Because if you want more space in the iPhone XS, you’re immediately stuck with 256GB and that costs you 150 bucks more.

The choices regarding storage are much more flexible in the case of XR.

4. Better battery life

With the iPhone XS, you can use the Internet for 12.5 to 13.5 hours and watch movies, so it can easily last a day on a single charge if you do some other things in between.

iPhone XR, on the other hand, has an even better battery life. It lasts between 15.5 and 16.5 hours before you have to charge it.

5. Portrait mode-ready front camera

There are even more similarities between the iPhone XR vs the iPhone XS, without having to pay extra for it. In both devices, you will find the same front camera that allows you to take beautiful portrait photos and adjust the depth of the field afterward.

You’ll find the faster Face ID and improved TrueDepth camera in both.

At the back, there are a few differences, however. The iPhone XR has only one 12 megapixel camera whereas iPhone XS and XS Max have a dual camera.

But in one way or another, Apple has managed to include the same functions in both the devices – Smart HDR, optical image stabilization, customizable portrait mode, Animoji all works.

Because the iPhone XR does not have a telephoto lens, 3x digital zoom is the maximum. If you do not use the zoom function that much, you will not miss this feature much on the iPhone XR.

6. A12 Bionic processor

The beauty of the latest iPhone models is that the chips inside them are largely the same, regardless of whether you buy the cheapest iPhone XR or the most expensive iPhone XS Max.

A12 Bionic Chip

You will find the same ultra-powerful A12 Bionic processor in both devices, which is more energy-efficient and contains a 50% faster graphics chip. With the XR, you will get the same power, but at a lesser price.

7. Six colors to choose from

iPhone XR is available in six colors – yellow, red, blue, and coral are the new bright colors this year. It offers more variety than the XS that is available in the standard space grey, silver, and gold colors of the iPhone XS.

If you want a calm color, Apple also has the colors black and white for you. You can also buy the (PRODUCT)RED model if you want to.

8. Face ID and Wireless charging

The fact that the XR costs around $250 less doesn’t mean that you get an aging product with obsolete tech.

In fact, Apple has equipped the XR with a Face ID camera for facial recognition and a glass back so that you can charge the device wirelessly.
