Why does Instagram notifies users when you take a screenshot?
Instagram is taking after Snapchat and other social media platforms ever since Facebook took over. It now has almost the same privacy features and borrows heavily from Snapchat.
Notifying users when someone takes a screenshot of their stories is the latest privacy measure that social network has adopted.
Here’s how this notification works.
Whenever you take a screenshot, Instagram now notifies you that the user will be able to see who took the screenshot the next time you do so.
Remember, this notification appears only while viewing stories, not with the photos in the regular feed.
This feature is currently in beta and, hence, is available only in a select few countries.
It seems like they are testing the waters before they roll out for all devices and locations.

Method 1 – Airplane mode
Using Airplane mode is without a doubt the best workaround for this.
The best thing about this method is that they can’t block it since it’s a stock component of the iOS operating system.
It works because Airplane mode essentially disables your device’s internet connection and hence the target user gets no notification.
- Open up the Control Center on your iPhone by swiping up.
- Enable Airplane mode momentarily by tapping the airplane icon.
- Take the screenshot.
- Disable Airplane mode.
