OLEDification – Simulate Samsung S8 OLED Display on iOS

Another day, another tweak. This new tweak aims to bring Samsung S8’s OLED screen to iPhone in a unique way. Here’s how it works.

How OLEDification works

S8 is Samsung’s flagship device and the frontrunner of the entire Android lineup. Therefore, it’s natural to have jailbreakers demand a port for some of its features such as lock screen notifications, display etc.

But this new port really sets the bar high as it brings the S8 OLED screen’s look and feel to Apple’s LCD screens.

As its name suggests, OLEDification Cydia tweak brings Samsung S8’s OLED screen to iPhone. It is developed by tweak developer Shyam Lad aka HoboWithCurry and NeinZedd9.

Once you install it, you can customize it to your liking from its Settings section. Although this tweak is really simple due to its nature, it still comes with a couple of privacy and styling options.

Here are the options you can customize.

  • Privacy options – Swipe down to reveal contents, Double tap to open notifications
  • Transitioning to lock screen – Long press -> Lock screen
  • Truncation length (Set the number of characters present in the notification message)
  • Appearance options – Display label and icon, label only, or icon only.

The reason behind the dearth of customization options is that the ability to customize will kill the whole S8 experience.

As far as compatibility goes, it is fully compatible with other similar Samsung S8 tweaks such as  –

  • EdgeAlert
  • 3Edgy5Me

The developer doesn’t officially provide support for Edgify but you can give it a go if you have it.

This is a great tweak for those who want a port for some of Samsung S8’s features. At $1.99, its price tag is justified by its features. Recommended.

OLEDification is available for download on BigBoss Cydia repo for $1.99. It is compatible with iOS 9 and 10.
