How TopNotch works
iPhone X came out a week ago and jailbreakers are already itching to have its exclusive features on jailbroken devices. Thankfully, a developer has already ported the iPhone X’s most hated feature to older models.
TopNotch Cydia tweak ports iPhone X’s notch to older iPhone and iPad models. It is developed by tweak developer, Ethan R.
Here’s how the notch looks like in action.
Once you install this tweak, simply restart the Springboard and you will be good to go. There are absolutely no preferences that you need to set after installation.
You will need a jailbreak for this but this is the only way to get a native implementation of this feature.
There are other methods as well but they rely on adding wallpapers with a black section at the top. This kind of implementation is not native and doesn’t look as good as a dedicated tweak.

The notch is, without a doubt, the worst feature of the iPhone X. However, if you still want to have it on your older phone, I recommend installing this jailbreak tweak.
Remember, installing it will end up messing up with your applications, browsing, and other Statusbar tweaks.
TopNotch is available for download on Ethan’s Cydia repository (http://ethanrdoesmc.tk/repo). It is compatible with iOS 10.
Here are some more popular jailbreak tweaks for your iPhone.
- MicroPlayer – Tiny Gesture-based Music Player for home screen
- AdMissile – Powerful Ad Blocker that blocks over 800 Ad Servers
