After the success of its dual camera, Apple is all set to experiment with the triple-lens camera. Here’s when you can expect a triple camera iPhone.
Triple-lens camera in future iPhone models?
According to Taiwanese analyst Yuanda Gu Gu, Apple may incorporate a triple camera in iPhone, as early as 2019.
Future iPhone models will likely draw inspiration from the Huawei P20 Pro, which is the first smartphone with this feature.
It is not yet known whether the third lens will have a digital or optical zoom, with the latter being more probable.
Unsurprisingly, the second-generation of the iPhone X, the upcoming iPhone 9, will not receive this feature. Though there’s no news about a triple camera yet, a minor upgrade seems to be on the cards.
The general public can expect this feature in the third-generation of the iPhone X.
How will the triple camera system benefit the iPhone?
A triple camera is a significant upgrade over the dual-camera system that is a part of almost all high-end smartphones in this day and age.
Huawei P20 Pro is touted to have a better camera than other high-end smartphones on the market. It surges past giants like Samsung Galaxy S9 and even iPhone X in the benchmarks.
Also, it captures photos and videos during night-time with exceptional sharpness, something that is missing from the current iPhone lineup.
So, needless to say, a triple-lens camera will definitely offer improved image quality.
Apart from that, an added lens will also offer better zooming capabilities.
With the launch of P20 Pro, Huawei’s latest flagship smartphone, the triple camera smartphone market is soon expected to take off.
Once this segment reaches maturity, Apple and other popular manufacturers will ensure their future flagship models come with a triple-cam.
