How Nine works
iOS 11, by default, combines the lock screen and the Notification Center. As soon as you swipe down, it displays the lock screen, not a dedicated Notification Center. This is where this new tweak comes in.
Nine Cydia tweak brings an iOS 9-inspired Notification Center to modern devices running iOS 11 and above. It is developed by developer Jake aka the casle, who is a newcomer on the tweak development scene.
Here’s how this tweak looks like in action.
The stock grouped notification style is now replaced by the stunning transparent design of the iOS 9 Notification Center.
The stock functionality of this tweak is to modify the Notification Center. However, it doesn’t just stop there!
It also lets you customize the various aspects of the Notification Center. For example, you can adjust the degree of the blur radius, banner style, etc from its Settings section.
Here are the Settings that I am currently using on my iPhone.
- Enable tweak (on) – Enables the tweak on your device.
- iPhone X banners (on) – Enables iPhone X-style notification banners on older models.
- Enable header background (on) – Enables header background for notifications. Enabling this option is recommended because it lends a really cleaner look to the notifications.
- Disable SpringBoard icons (off) – Ensures the icons on your home screen stay invisible in the notifications. Keep this option turned off for a more iOS 9-esque look and feel.
- Force lock screen background (off) – Forces lock screen background to be used in the Notification Center. You should only enable this option if you have different wallpapers for your lock screen and home screen.
- Customization – This section allows you to customize the values of the blur radius, underlying darkening, and history darkening. The default values should be appropriate enough for all users. Do not alter these values unless you really want to mess your notification styling up.

Nine is an amazing Cydia tweak and, above all, it’s totally free! The developer should at least sell it for a dollar because it really is that good.
It has already become a staple in my current iOS 11 setup. Highly recommended.
Nine is available for download on BigBoss repository for free. It is compatible only with iOS 11 and above.
The developer also intends to add more features such as media player themes, widget view, grouped notifications in future updates.
