What’s new in iOS 11.2 beta 5?
Apple usually seeds new beta versions to developers on Monday. However, they rescheduled the beta 5 build for Tuesday due to Thanksgiving holiday.
iOS 11.2 beta 5 (15C5111a) weighs a paltry 35MB on my iPhone 7 Plus. So judging by the size of this update, I don’t think it contains anything important.
As always, there are a few fixes and improvements for minor bugs that were present on older versions. Here’s a list of bug fixes that I was able to find –
- The texting bug, which causes a slight stutter while typing a new line, is now completely fixed.
- Animation lags and frame drops don’t seem to pester users anymore. All animations are smooth as butter now.
Apart from Apple’s mobile operating system, macOS 11.13.2, watchOS 4.2 and tvOS 11.2 are also available for download.
Surprisingly, this update is not available for iPhone X users. You can, however, install it on all other Apple devices which is weird.
You can download this beta update using the download links for the IPSW firmware file. You can also take the OTA route, which will obviously be easier than the former.

Should I update?
No jailbreak developer has said anything about iOS versions we should stick to so it’s safe to update. Even if you are not interested in a jailbreak, this is a minor update and doesn’t bring anything new.
Therefore, I recommend staying on iOS 11.1.2 to all jailbreakers.
Needless to say, a public version will be coming after a few days. Moreover, the GM version doesn’t seem too far now since we are already five beta versions deep now. So you can wait for that and before you consider upgrading.
