What’s new in iOS 11.1 beta 2?
iOS 11.1 beta 2 comes after two weeks since the release of the first beta. Unlike other beta updates, the second beta actually introduces some new features and brings some old ones as well.
3D Touch App Switcher
According to Craig Federighi, senior vice president at Apple, the 3D touch App Switcher had to be removed in earlier versions due to technical issues.
A lot of users were actually requesting Apple to add it back to iOS and this might be the real reason behind its reintroduction.
Here’s how it looks like in action.
New Emojis
Apart from this 3D Touch gesture, we also have several new emojis. This update brings new emojis based on Unicode 10, including the highly anticipated Hijab emoji.
This version also allows you to quickly insert emojis based on the words you type on the keyboard. For example, expressive words such as happy, sad, ecstatic, etc will automatically trigger the right emoji and it will be displayed on the keyboard.
This prevents you specifically from opening the emoji keyboard every time to key in a relevant emoji.
Minor changes
Other minor changes include an updated camera icon and a faster unlock animation.
