Apple releases iOS 10.2.1 beta 4

Three days after the release of the third beta of iOS 10.2.1, Apple has just released the fourth beta. This is a sign that Apple is firing on all cylinders right now. A stable version of iOS 10.2.1 will soon be released for everyone.

Meanwhile the fourth beta is available only for developers and participants in public beta testing program. Developers registered with Apple can download this version via the official Apple developer portal and participants in the public test program can download it via OTA (over the air) directly to their device.

This new release comes just days after the third beta update. Beta 3’s build number was 14D23 and beta 4 is numbered 14D27 by Apple. 4 different versions have been created since Monday. The proposed changes from one beta to the next are not yet known. In reality, it is unlikely that the testers notice them as iOS 10.2.1 just fixes bugs.

As a reminder, this version of iOS is minor. It offers no new features and focuses mainly on patches and performance improvements.

Many new innovations are expected in iOS 10.3 which, among other features, will include a “theater mode”. The theater/dark mode will be suitable for watching movies in low lighting conditions and will block all incoming calls and messages. It would be accessible from the control center itself.
