Hacker demonstrates iOS 10.1 Jailbreak on iPhone 7

iOS 10.1 update was released about two weeks. Today, a hacker who goes by the name ijapija00, posted a video of a jailbroken iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1. Ijapija00 is an iOS developer who is behind Cydia tweaks Callisto and Pynthexsia Unified. This gives credibility to his announcement on Twitter.

Moreover the video speaks for itself and seems quite legitimate.

The iOS 10.1 jailbreak presented here is based solely on his exploits. This is a remarkable achievement for the lone-wolf hacker. It also seems to works on iOS 10.1.1.

The developer also gave a number of reasons why he will not be able to release a public version of this hacking tool –

  • Cydia Substrate is patched replacing a library that supports the tweak in the system. As long as Cydia Substrate is not patched, there will be no jailbreak.
  • Being the only developer working on this jailbreak, he does not want to be responsible for the devices of the users. He simply does not have the time to help people who have problems with the tool.
  • It is sometimes unstable. This means it can only be used for private testing purposes and development.

We do not know if this tool will ever be released for the public. It is always interesting to know what’s going behind the scenes on the jailbreak scene.

Jailbreak on iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1 is still possible while Apple is constantly hardening iOS security at each new update. One more reason to rejoice, I guess!
