i0n1c Jailbreaks iOS 9.3.5 on 32-bit Devices

Stefan Esser aka i0n1c has successfully developed a jailbreak for 32-bit iOS devices running iOS 9.3.5.

This jailbreak was relatively easier to develop because Apple did not patch the Pegasus security vulnerability properly. This left open some gaping holes in the firmware which the hacker was able to pounce on.

Here’s what the hacker tweeted.

Stefan is a colossal troll and hardly releases anything for the community now. However, he’s still a part of the scene and continues with his antics on Twitter.

There’s a chance he still might make his exploits public which will allow other developers to continue with the development.

Why is iOS 9.3.5 Jailbreak important?

Although iOS 9 will become obsolete with iOS 11, it’s still important for legacy devices.

Here’s why iOS 9.3.5 jailbreak is important –

  • You can downgrade iOS 9.3.5 to lower firmware versions.
  • You can dual-boot older firmware alongside iOS 9 using Coolbooter utility.

This is great news for those who still have a legacy device lying around. I have an iPad mini stuck on iOS 9.3.5 that I would like to jailbreak.

The only real hope for a proper jailbreak is REALKJCMEMBER. He possesses a working jailbreak tool, which he hasn’t made public as of yet.
