How to fix GPG error in Cydia [iOS 11-11.1.2]

As Electra uses a hacked-up version of Cydia, several of its components are not working properly. Here’s how you can fix the “GPG error” in iOS 11-11.1.2 firmware.

What causes the GPG error in Cydia?

The GPG error message signified that something is wrong with the repository your device is trying to communicate with.

This error can be server-side or client-side (your device) as well.

Cydia errors displayed in yellow are usually harmless and you can safely ignore them. Here’s how this error message looks like.

An error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://apt.saurik.com

If you feel this message is annoying, you can try any of the following fixes given below.

Fixing GPG error on Electra jailbreak [iOS 11-11.1.2]

Method 1 – Switch networks

  • Disable your current Wifi network and use another one. If the error persists, try using cellular data.
  • Ensure you are not routing your traffic through a proxy server. If that’s the case, try disabling it for the time being and retry.
  • This error can also spring up if you are using a public network, so try using a home Wifi network.
  • If the repository’s server is down, there’s nothing you can do except waiting.

Method 2 – Reinstall Cydia

You can fix this error by reinstalling Cydia installer again. This holds true for almost all other errors as well.

However, there’s no clear-cut method to do that right now. Therefore, you must wait for an update.

Again, I don’t recommend this method for obvious reasons. Moreover, it is a bit overkill to reinstall Cydia to fix such an obscure error.
