What is EtasonJB?
EtasonJB is a fully untethered jailbreak developed for 32-bit devices running iOS 8.4.1 firmware. It is developed by eminent hacker Tihmstar.
Several other developers such as Siguza, Jonathan Seals, and jk9357 have also worked on this tool.
It works exactly like the Phoenixpwn jailbreak for iOS 9.3.5 firmware. It is based on the Trident vulnerability present in iOS 9 and 8 firmware versions.
EtasonJB may seem useless to some but it’s very important for legacy devices, here’s why –
- Firstly, the performance of 32-bit devices ion iOS 9.3.5 is quite unsatisfactory.
- Secondly, since we can go back to iOS 8.4.1 by firmware spoofing, it makes this jailbreak even more important.
At present, the RC2 (Release Candidate 2) version is available for download, which fixes patcyh. You can expect more fixes in the upcoming versions, hopefully.
Here’s the complete list of devices that are compatible with this tool.

How to Jailbreak iOS 8.4.1 on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Step 1 Download the EtasonJB jailbreak IPA file using the direct download link given above. I suggest saving it right to your desktop for quick access.
Step 2 Download Cydia Impactor from this link. We will be using this utility to install this IPA file on our iOS device. Once you have downloaded it, launch it from your computer.
Step 3 Connect your device to your computer. Cydia Impactor will now recognize it instantly.
Step 4 Drag and drop the etasonJB-RC2.ipa file to Cydia Impactor’s window.
Step 5 Cydia Impactor will now prompt you to enter your Apple ID credentials. Go ahead and enter your email ID and password.
Step 6 Once that’s done, Impactor will now commence the IPA sideloading process. This will take a minute or two. Once it displays “Complete”, you can safely disconnect your device from your computer.
Step 7 Unlock your device and the jailbreak application will now be present on your home screen. Open it and tap Trust when you get the “Untrusted Developer Certificate” alert.
Step 8 Press the Etason JB! button to start the actual jailbreak process.
Step 9 Wait for it to install the exploit and perform the necessary patches. Finally, it will install Cydia along with the untether. You can keep checking the progress in the top section of the app.
Step 10 EtasonJB will restart the Springboard and your device will be running a fully untethered jailbreak. You can now open Cydia and start installing your favorite tweaks.
Here’s a step by step video tutorial.
That’s all there’s to it! Time to open and dust off your old device. If you have an old 32-bit device lying around somewhere, this is the best way to jailbreak it.
As always, don’t forget to post your doubts or errors in the comments section below.

Yalu. Many thanks for this guide, but unfortunately, Cydia impactor is down, and 3utools also does not work, any way to install the profile using something like panda helper

Are you getting this error in Cydia Impactor?
I am getting the same error nonstop.
Hi,
Why do you say ” DO NOT install AppSync Unified after using this tool” ? I’ve installed it on an iPhone 4s downgraded to 8.4.1 and jailbreaked with Etason. I’ve no problems ?
Thank you
The older version of AppSync had some problems with this tool.

I just got put to 6.0 when trying to downgrade from 9.3.5 to 8.4.1 on my iPhone 4s
i try jailbreak ios 8.4.1 using etasonjb, and why etasonjb process is finished not want to restart, just silence, then i restart the manual, and as a result the wifi network can not be accessed, please help him, thank you
Hi, sorry for my english, it’s weak. I done all steps like you said. And EtasonJB is opening, but after it shows me “done JB” nothing happened and There is no cydia on my screen. What is wrong?
Hello, Klaudia. I suggest you try the Home Depot jailbreak as it is more stable.
I´ve downgraded my ipad 2 via phoenixjb on 9.3.5. It is now on 8.4.1, but i can´t install the etajb. Everytime i hit the button it loops the app. It open, blinks and close. Any clue?
Hell, Thiago. That’s weird since this usually happens only on wrong firmware versions. Are you using the latest RC4 version?
Update – You must use the OdysseusOTA method for downgrading for this tool to work properly.
Can i do it without my shsh? Do u have a link?
Have an iPhone 4s at firmware version 7.0.2 so I’m excited about @tihmstar announcing EtasonJB while Apple still signs version 8.4.1 OTA. Except readings indicate OTA upgrade hampers jailbreak success. What am I to do?
Hello, Kevin. OTA upgrade won’t mess the success of your jailbreak. You can also perform a clean restore if that’s what you want.
Thanks Luca, that’s terrific news. Where may instructional steps be found for saving shsh blob files of current unsigned 7.0.2 firmware in case of failure?
Hello Luca. After further reading, there appears to be no immediate benefit to saving shsh blob files, so I allowed OTA upgrade of iPhone 4s to firmware 8.4.1. Current step is dropping EtasonJB ipa file upon Cydia Impactor, which runs for only a second to “listTeams”, then separate Impactor box appears with message, “Error http-osx.cpp:131 An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.”
Hello, Kevin. Try this – https://yalujailbreak.net/http-osx-cpp-131-error/
Update – Yes, the developer has said that OTA method is resulting in several issues. Hence, you must use the Odysseus method. Should I post that online?
You can use this fix – https://yalujailbreak.net/icons-missing-ios-841/
Thanks for all your astounding assistance Luca. Eventually got EtasonJB icon on my 4s through friend’s Windows laptop. Upon running the JB, screen messages appeared indicating phone drive was near capacity because podcasts were downloaded without my knowledge. Tapped Etason JB icon again after deleting podcasts but still no Cydia icon. How should I proceed from this failed install?
Try opening this in Safari – cydia://
so, you are not able to install cracked apps? …. appsync doesnt work on this jailbreak? and on the home depot 8.4.1 jailbreak?
Hello, Isaac. Appsync does work with Home Depot 841 but I suggest you wait for confirmation from its developer. It messed up the sideload ability of a lot of devices.
I’ve tried to downgrade from 9.3.5 to 8.4.1 but keeps messing up at the apple logo. I did get Beehind to work with 6.1.3 but need 8.4.1 to run apps that i need like Freedompop for cell service, and I don’t have a Mac DAMN
I will upload a proper tutorial soon.
