Comet – iOS 14-inspired widgets on iOS 13

Another day, another tweak. Comet brings iOS 14-inspired widgets to the iOS 13 operating system. Here’s how you can get this tweak on your iPhone and iPad.

How Comet works

The latest mobile operating system by Apple – iOS 14 – lets you add widgets to your home screen. This feature is not available on devices running iOS 13.

Well, jailbreak enthusiasts are not the patient kind. They want everything right now and they want it their way. That’s where this new tweak comes in.

Comet brings iOS 14-style widgets to jailbroken devices running iOS 13. It is developed by veteran tweak developer Dylan West aka iOSthemem0d.

As of this writing, this tweak supports the following widgets –

  • Music
  • Weather
  • Notes
  • Maps
  • Safari
  • WiFi
  • Cellular
  • iCloud
  • Compass
  • Apps
  • Clock
  • Battery
  • Storage
  • Calendar

Here’s a video demonstration of this amazing tweak.

How to setup iOS 14-style widgets on iOS 13 with Comet

Setting up Activator Gestures

You will need to go to Activator tweak in the Settings to select the gesture to invoke Comet.

For the sake of this tutorial, we will use home screen gestures. Go to At Home Screen > Double Tap and you will see there are two gesture options for Comet –

  • Hide Comet
  • Show Comet

Assign this gesture to “Show Comet”.

You can also use other gestures if you don’t like double-tap. Just make sure it is easy to perform. You don’t want to perform the five-finger pinch just to enable widgets on your home screen.

Make sure you select a gesture option to show Comet and then select a different gesture option to hide Comet. When you use your desired gesture, it will show Comet or hide it.

For hiding Comet, we strongly suggest using the “From Screen Bottom” gesture. You can disable widgets simply by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

Enable modules

Go to the customize section and select your preferred mode (adaptive or color mode). We recommend setting it to “Adaptive” as it intelligently changes the widget style.

Now go to the “Add Modules” section and drag any modules you want to top (enabled sections).

There are individual modules settings where you can customize the color for each module along with some more options.

Download Comet Cydia Tweak

All in all, Comet is a quality tweak that ports an important iOS 14 feature to iOS 13. Recommended!

With that being said, it does have a few bugs and glitches here and there. For instance, the Settings app will crash as soon as you try to add a new module.

If you are the patient type, you can go with Comet or wait for Apple to release iOS 14 this fall.

Before you go about installing it on your device, make sure you are not using iOS 12 or below. This tweak does not work on those versions.

Comet is available for download on Twickd Cydia repo for $1.99. It is compatible with iOS 13.
