Abraham Masri (@cheesecakeufo) gets Cydia running on iPhone X

Hacker Cheesecakeufo is back at it again! He has just teased a snapshot of his iOS 11.1.2 device running Cydia.

Cydia now runs on iOS 11.1.2 and iPhone X

Abraham Masri, Houdini semi-jailbreak developer, has finally got Cydia to run on iOS 11.1.2. The device in question is an iPhone X and it seems to be running Cydia version 1.1.30 (64-bit) just fine.

Here’s the photo Abraham uploaded on Twitter.

Cydia iOS 11.1.2

Running Cydia is not the be all and all, developers are still dealing with a lot of limitations on iOS 11. For example, we can’t run Cydia tweaks just yet on any Apple device running iOS 11 firmware.

According to Abraham Masri, Cydia and Mobile Substrate require a massive overhaul. Since Cydia is not open source, only Saurik can update Cydia.

Viktor Oreshkin

Another jailbreak developer, who goes by the name stek29, also uploaded a photo of his iPod touch 5 running Cydia.

The firmware version is same, that is, iOS 11.1.2. Moreover, the Cydia version and model details suggest that Cydia can run just as well on all devices right out of the box.

What next?

The jailbreak is pretty much ready and all we need now is an update for Cydia. Once that’s out of the way, a jailbreak will be pretty much ready.

iOS 11.1.2 is getting a jailbreak update almost daily. Therefore, we can be sure that solid progress is being made on the iOS 11 jailbreak front.

Jailbreak update

Another developer is also working on an IPA, which is almost ready to work. Once Saurik makes necessary changes to Cydia, the developer will then package it along with the IPA.
