A Candid Interview with Axel Brunetta of H3PTA Designs

Today, we have onboard Axel Brunetta, a professional UI designer from H3PTA Designs. Here’s the full interview.

Firstly, I would like to introduce Axel to the entire Yalu jailbreak community. He is an up and coming designer who already has an app up on the App Store.

Apart from that, he has also designed some awesome concepts for iOS.

Q1. How and when did you get started with UI design and development?

A. I started drawing since I was 3, I loved drawing mangas… One day I was on the Youtube app (old one) and I thought to myself: “Wow that looks terrible! Why not try to make this better?”

So I started from this, then created my own apps.

Q2. The HealthMe app has an absolutely amazing UI! How much time did it take you to design it from the ground up?

A.  To be honest, HealthMe isn’t my favorite project but I really like it because this was my first “big” project. At first, I made all the ideas I wanted on paper, then I tried to make them better on photoshop.

It took me 1-2 months to find something that looked great. Then, as I’m starting learning Obj-C and Swift, I asked Complitech if they wanted to make this app with me. And this is where the “Real” project started.

Q3. You have some amazing concepts like the “Doughnut lock screen”. Are you or anyone else working on realizing them?

A. When I made these (like 6 months ago), I tried making them as Cydia tweaks but it was too complicated for me as I was just starting to learn to code so I let down the projects.

But maybe one day, I’ll find a dev that will be ok to do this project with me 🙂

Q4. Do you own a jailbroken iOS device? If yes, what are your favorite “UI enhancement” tweaks?

A. I own one (an iPhone 6 on iOS 10.2) but I’m selling it….. to buy the 8 ;).

If I had to say my favorite “UI enhancement” tweaks are Eclipse and the font FF Mark Pro. They add a really unique look to the UI on your phone.

Q5. Would you like to be a part of the jailbreak community and work on Cydia tweaks?

A. I don’t really know, maybe, I really like the Jailbreak community but as I will buy the new iPhone, I think I’ll be blocked from the Jailbreak for a looooonnng time….and I prefer a bit making apps on the AppStore.

Q6. Are you still involved in designing the UI for Antique Dev’s upcoming jailbreak tool?

A. Antique has already someone working on the UI, the one I made was just for fun. But I’m still working on other things with Antique 😉

Q7. What can we expect from you in the future?

A. I’m still working with Antique on Wavy, a replacement for the music app, that will maybe be on Cydia and App Store.

I’m also working on a game (MindGolf) that will be made entirely by me. I also have a lot of other projects that will probably never be completed…..

These answers prove how much Axel really knows about UI design and how passionate he is about app development.
