Apple Testing Lightning fast 5G Technology for Next-gen Devices

Apple will now be able to start testing the new 5G technology. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has granted them the license to test next generation wireless technology.

How 5G Technology Works

The 5G technology uses millimeter wave bands, which provide higher network bandwidth. It allows data transmission speeds up to 10 gigabits per second.

Apple will operate their tests on 28 and 39 GHz bands, which were opened by FCC for companies. This will give Apple unrestricted access to 11Ghz of high-frequency spectrum.

No matter how fast it is, it’s still not fit for mass scale deployment in areas with huge populations. Remember, this new technology is still in experimental phase. Hence, It will still take some time before we can enjoy faster speeds.

When it becomes available to the public, all of us will be able to get lightning fast internet speed.

When will iPhone be ready for 5G?

Many rumors point towards 5G being integrated into the next-generation iPhones. Naturally, it will take some time for Apple to fully test this technology and implement it.

As you already know, iPhone 8 is all set to arrive this year in September. As a result, it will be very difficult for Apple to implement this new feature in such a short time.

They may also be testing it for their driverless cars or some other next-gen devices.

For the uninitiated, 28Ghz frequency is used in satellite communication. FCC opening this band has already caused a lot of disputes between carriers and satellite providers. This will further delay the arrival of 5G.

According to me, it will still take a few years for 5G to become mainstream. Its integrability will largely depend on popular carriers.
